The Falkland Islands are a group of islands 300 miles off the east coast of South America and less than 600 miles north of Antarctica. There are two main islands, and more than 700 smaller islands. The Falkland Islands are an Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom and the residents are British citizens.

Unique and abundant wildlife inhabit the islands and surrounding waters, appreciated by the island residents and visitors. Conservation efforts are continuing to conserve and restore natural biodiversity for future generations.

I visited the Falklands in March 2008, and these are some photos from that trip.
